Top Ten Disney Films!!!

The last of my disney week, will put up a post about Disney On Ice next week. And though I missed two days! I did alright at getting this done. Bit of Disney nostalgia with old school Disney and appreciating new school Disney!

10 ) Lady and the Tramp - "He’s a tramp but I love him.. he’s a tramp but I love him” this is the cutest little film, from how Lady is all wrapped up… to the spaghetti scene. 

9 ) The Little Mermaid -  You can’t beat this tale, from a sea witch to a dashing prince,  brilliant sidekicks, and no voice. It’s classic disney at its best. 

8 ) Tarzan - I always felt a little bit sorry for Tarzan cause he didn’t fit in with the gorillas and was always trying to prove himself. I loved his little love story with Jane it was so cute. 

7 ) Ice Princess - Pre-teen nostalgia, this is a great film, Michelle Trachtenberg plays a genius girl, who is able to apply mathematics to figure skating. That part went over my hair, but loved the ice skating, always wished I could do something like that. 

6 ) The Jungle Book - “I want to be like you-ooo-hooo, wanna walk like you, talk like you too” Another orphaned boy raised by animals, but this cute little tale takes us way back in the disney time line. We were brought up watching this A LOT. It was the only Disney Video my grandparents owned. 

5 ) Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen - Before Lindsey Lohan went off the rails she stared in a number of really good Disney movies such as this one. 

4 ) Wreck-It-Ralph -  New Disney has created some amazing new films and this one is so easily looked over, but with tons of loveable characters and a great wee story its one you should definitely watch it. 

3 ) Pocahontas - We have one of the strongest female characters in early Disney. Pulled together with talking trees, great songs and great animation. 

2 ) The Nightmare Before Christmas: A Tim Burton masterpiece this film is multi-seasonal. So you can enjoy it any time.

1 ) Frozen: I’m not going to get over Frozen any time soon, though it does have its downfalls like, not using Jonathan Groff’s voice to the fullest, it has its good points like, using Idina Menzel’s voice to the fullest.  It’s still a great tale and a brilliant film. 

Top 5 Disney Villans

Whats a disney film without a good Disney Villian....

5) Malifecent - Sleeping Beauty: Who can forget this wicked woman... cursing a baby to sleep for hundred years when she grows up... seems pretty long winded if you ask me but none the less it comes from an evil place. This green gal and her crow make a pretty wicked pair.

4) Dr Facilier - The Princess and the Frog: He may be part of new disney but he's got the soul of old disney. This perfectly crafted villain makes for a creepily good song.

3) Mother Gothel- Tangled: Can't beat a bit of manipulation. Mother knows best... or didn't you know?



2) Scar - The Lion King: Is it the voice, is it the conveniently places Scar, is it the army of hyena's is it the fact he told his Simba he's the reason Mufasa died and to run far away... I guess we'll never know. But he is one Scary dude so you better be prepared.

1) Ursula - The Little Mermaid: This wicked woman got her kicks from messing with other peoples lives. Her contracts are pure evil genius, her manipulation skills are at another level. And her ability to grow is kinda weird but none the less scary. You poor unfortunate soul you.

Top 5 Disney Sidekicks

I missed yesterday,  as I was so swamped I didn't get on my laptop at all. These are my top five Disney sidekicks!

 

 

5) Thumper – Bambi: “If you can’t say something nice… don’t say nothing at all” this adorable little guy, was such a good little pal.

4)  Sebastian and Flounder – The Little Mermaid: One was the voice of reason, the other was the friend that would do anything with/for you .

3) The genie – Aladdin:  Whats better than a friend who can grant you wishes…

2) Timon and Pumba – The Lion King:  Hakuna Matata what a wonderful phrase, these two will pick you up when you are down.

1) Mushu – Mulan: Who wouldn’t want this sassy little dragon, motivating you as you save china… or you know just to get you out of bed in the morning.

Top Five Favourite Disney Princesses

A countdown of my top five favourite Disney princesses!

5) Cinderella – Cinders’ the original rags to riches. It’s a story that has been done again and again and I don’t really think I really appreciated the classic princess until my pre-teen obsession with a Cinderella Story or Ever After when I realised how much I do truly love the story. I can’t wait to go see the new version in the cinema.

4) Aurora – My first Disney Princess obsession… I think it was the hair, it was flawless. And when I was little I had blonde hair, So I think that’s how I wanted my hair to be when I grew up, but by age of 4/5 I was brunette. My dad still teases me on how much he had to sit through Sleeping Beauty when I was little… apparently for quite a while it was the only thing I would watch. Though I don’t appreciate her on quite the same level anymore she’s a classic.

3) Ariel - If you didn’t want to be a mermaid after watching the Little Mermaid then you’re lying. Like it sucks so much that Ariel didn’t appreciate being a mermaid, because that looks fun. She was also like fifteen and a fish so of course her dad was strict and told her to stay away from humans. But at the end of the day Ariel ventured of on her own to find where she fit in the world. And I totally dig her wanderlust, plus the hair!

2) Belle – She didn’t fall in love after a millisecond of meeting the beast, she waited till the beast gave her a library and that’s basically all I wanted in life as a little girl, that plus the singing and dancing cutlery, crockery ect. She didn’t mind the townspeople thinking she was different, she was happy and contended in her own little world with her dad. I thought that was sweet.

 1) Elsa – I think technically she’s a queen and rightly so… I know a lot of people think she’s over rated. But I think she’s the only princess to not have a romantic relationship. She struggled with her fears for years and shows that you can get over them, but that its not easy to ‘just’ get over them. She has opened a new generation to Disney and brought a generation back. Plus her hair!

• Tiana - Her work-orientated thinking made me appreciate this girl so much
• Rupunzel - I love the fact she uses pans as weapons.
• Snow white (The Original Princess) - You got to give it to her, she came first.

#MusicMonday: Top 10 Disney Songs

I am having a disney week on this blog... in honour of going to Disney On Ice on Sunday which I am so excited about!!!

10) Thats How You Know - Enchanted: This song is brilliant for many reasons, it has the very disney-esque production, but on a real life scale with a confused Patrick Dempsey acting like how anyone would if everyone in the park suddenly burst into song and dance. Its utterly brilliant and really,  truly catchy. 

9) Why Should I worry - Oliver and Company: This little gem regularly gets stuck in my head, even if I haven't watched the movie in ages. Though I think It's often forgotten about when talking about Disney. 

8) I'll make a man out of you - Mulan : Ack I love this song. How can you not, It's the ultimate motivation song. Get it on your workout mix, you won't be sorry.

7) Be Our Guest - Beauty and the Beast: When I think about Disney songs this is one of the first that come to mind, very little live up to the standards of Be Our Guest. Especially visually not only is it lyrically brilliant, catchy, exciting. The scene is visually breath taking when you think about it all being drawn by hand. 

6) Hakuna Matata - The Lion King: Of course this is on the list how could it not be... it means no worries for the rest of your days. I think I can speak for a lot of people that The Lion King is one of the best (If not thee best) for Songs. Both Stage and Screen version host a variety of songs that will have you singing for weeks. But Hakuna Matata just might top the boat in catchiness plus the brilliant transition from young to adult Simba. 

5) I won't say I'm in love - Hercules: Meg, my favourite Heroine sings one of the best songs for girls in Hercules, complete with greek chorus whats not to love...

4)Part of your world - The Little Mermaid: This has always been a favourite of mine how could it not be. Its such a brilliant song that only gets better with age.

3) Friends on the Other Side - The Princess and the Frog: I feel that this is such a bridge between old school disney and new school disney and just embodies a villain song. It is equally creepy and brilliant visually, vocally, lyrically. Its just a shame that the Princess and the Frog is so easily

overlooked.

2) Let It Go - Frozen: I got his with Frozen fever and it's not over yet. I love Let It Go (though Idina Menzel could sing the alphabet and I would think its brilliant, the lady is TALENTED) It's such an anthem, and I know the rest of the world is tired of it, but I'm going to go crank it up and sing along some more.

1) Colours of the Wind - Pocahontas: Why is Pocahontas so brilliant.. I don't know. Is it because there is a talking Willow tree, probably. But most likely cause it has brilliant songs like Savages, just around the riverbend and my personal favourite Colours of the Wind.
