#MusicMonday: Extraordinary - Idina Menzel

I love a story telling song, and Idina Menzel's "Extraordinary" is a song with a great narrative that a lot of people will be able to connect with.  We all have that person that we wonder if we could have been something with.

One of my favourite tunes of her most recent album "Idina" the whole album is full of story telling tracks. Heart breakers and power makers this album has it all.

go listen and enjoy x

#MusicMonday: Wind Beneath My Wings - Idina Menzel

I am such a fan of Idina Menzel, I was lucky enough to see her on tour in 2015 and was blown away by just how talented this lady is. It has genuinely been a love affair since I first heard the Wicked Soundtrack.

I first listed to her rendition of Wind Beneath My Wings whilst I was in a bad place and sobbed. Like could not control all the emotions inside of me and just cried. It was beautiful.

I'm not a crier, nor a very emotional person. But I was alone and this song just hit a level of which I could not return from.

I have yet to watch the new adaptation of Beaches, the Bette Midler version is one of my long time favourites and I'm very excited to see Idina Menzel shine in the role.

#MusicMonday Let Me Fall - Bethany Joy Lenz

October has been around for a little over a week and I haven't really had time to sit down and dedicate any time to the blog, so I really meant to make this last weeks #MusicMonday but ran out of time. Something I run out of all to easily these days.

Bethany Joy Lenz has never realised a studio version of Let Me Fall, it was aired in an episode of One Tree Hill way back in the day and the only audio copies you will be able to find have characters voices over it or is broken up as someone has obviously tried to remove the character audio.

Idina Menzel covered the song as a bonus tack on a special edition release of her 2008 album "I Stand" a more pop(pier) version of the song, but holds it own all the same.

The Song always pops into my mind this time of year because of the opening lyrics "It's October again the leaves are coming down, one more years come and gone and nothings changed at all" and each year this song seems to resonate at some level.

So I took to a favourite little Autumnal spot and caught some footage and then covered the song myself this year. I'm not a good singer by any means, but I love the song.

Idina Menzel [Review]

I feel like I have waited a lifetime to see Miss Menzel. I remember being eight-ish and hearing the Wicked Soundtrack for the first time. Straight away I feel in love with the soundtrack and of course the song Defying Gravity. It started an unfaltering love of Musical theatre and the lady herself.  It wasn't to long after that I watched Rent and have basically followed her career since.

So on Wednesday June 24th when Idina Menzel took stage at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow I felt like I was eight again. Hearing her live was something else entirely she is just mesmerising. And though many know her from Frozen fame the lady is not afraid to let out some curses throughout the show.

Belter-ing out "Defying Gravity" and covering "Creep", "Tomorrow", dedicating "No day but today" to Jonathan Larson the man that helped start her career. Honouring powerhouse Ethel Mermen with a medley of songs. Throwing in songs from her albums "I stand" and "Still I can't be still". Having the audience help her out on "Take me or leave me" Idina covered everything you expected from her and then some. And looked like she was having a great time doing so.

So not only was she a great performer who I am incredibly glad that I got the opportunity to see live. She was funny and real.  Creating a perfect evening with Miss Idina Menzel.
