artist dodie graced the barrowlands stage on March 15th, to a sold out crowd, full of energy and sad songs. I've been a longtime listener after hearing Carrie Hope Fletcher and Celinde Schoenmaker cover "adored by him" in 2014 I became interested in the songstress. I didn't know what to expect from a dodie gig, they tend to sell out fast, the crowd seemed to have a good mix but the large amount of yellow t-shirt (is it tho?) flower crowned young fans left me feeling old, seriously when did everyone get so young and amongst them dutiful parents who deserve all the parental points. We caught the end of Orla Gartland's set and having heard of her but never listened to her before she's someone I'm going to check out. Kawala really impressed me though, they had a really good sound and a lot of energy. A natural stage presence and were quite funny. Definitely a band to give a moment too. dodie's set was amazing, though softly spoken and can be hard to hear over the cheers of the crowd she seemed in her element, and though you could argue that there are one too many sad songs in her repertoire her fans don't seem to mind. There's a hopeful ambiguity to a lot of them. And the energetic finale left the crowd buzzing. I don't go to gigs as much as I used to and last night really left me wondering why, there is honestly no better feeling than being in a room with people who find comfort in the same lyrics you do. separate but the same. each experiencing the same moment differently.
Tyler Hilton and Kate Voegele are currently touring the UK and I was lucky enough to see them at there sold out Glasgow show.
Even though One Tree Hill ended in 2012 the fans still show how much music was an integral part of the show. Still following artists that the show had introduced us to. Kate Voegele and Tyler Hilton played on this playing fan favourites from the show and even closing the concert with Where the stars go blue, Kate Voegele taking the female part sang by Bethany Joy Lenz on the show.
After the opening act. Kate Voegele came on stage. With a high energy performance singing songs that fans knew from the show and a some new material from her EP The Wild Card. The audience truly enthralled in the music she was playing. This was Kate's first show in Scotland and with the reaction from the audience it differently shouldn't be her last.
Then Tyler Hilton took the stage, this marks his fourth time in Scotland. And his first tour since the release of fan funded album Indian Summer. Meaning the crowd heard old favourites as well as some material off the brilliant new album. But Tyler has been truly busy starting in new Amazon Prime show Extant with Halle Berry meant he only has a few weeks off at a time to try and tour.
They then took the stage together for two songs. A duet from Kate Voegele's EP. And the much Loved Where the Stars go Blue that Tyler sang on the show with Bethany Joy Lenz it was a huge join in moment for the crowd who sang along to every word.
Tyler and Kate have already got plans to take the tour to Canada, and wish to take it to other countries. A great experience for any One Tree Hill Fans. Or just check out there music and see what amazing artists they are and go and see them live where they truly shine.
We stood impatiently in a queue with half an hour to wait until
they opened the doors. Amusing ourselves with the game Claire invented “uh huh!”
a game that consists of going uh huh at hot guys that pass you by (yeah we know
superficial but who the hell cares) its easily played on the busy streets of
Edinburgh where many a hot guy passes by, wouldn’t suggest it in small towns
don’t think it would be half as fun.
Tonight the 12th of June 2012 at the HMV Picture
House Edinburgh we would be seeing TYLER
HILTON! A man whose sexy voice was introduced to me first by the Show One
Tree Hill and when I made Claire watch the show last year she quickly became a
fan of both show and of Tyler Hilton. So when we found out about his UK tour
there was no way that we weren’t getting tickets to see him. So on March 12th
we ordered our tickets a whole 92 days before the event took place.
The stage pre show
As we stood in the hall taking pictures of the stage we were
so close to the stage with a perfect view. Alex Goot was the first act on
stage, someone I admit I had never heard of before, his set was fantastic and
by the sounds of it the audience agreed with me.
Alex Goot during his amazing set
In the small break after Alex Goot came of the stage. We
heard a girl behind us turn to her friend and say “When is Chris Keller coming
on?” we couldn’t help but laugh and it took everything in me and Claire not to
turn around and tell her that Chris Keller was fictional (let’s all let her
keep believing that he’s real might break her heart otherwise)
The Incredible Tyler Hilton
Then Tyler Hilton graced the stage just him and his guitar
walked up to the mic and said “Hey guys, my name is Tyler, thanks for coming
out here tonight” before he started to sing Kicking my heels. It’s when you see
him live that you realise that though his recordings are good they do not do
him justice he is simply phenomenal live way better that I could have ever
imagined. His set was amazing her played Kicking
My Heels, Jenny, Ain’t No Fooling Me, You’ll Ask for Me,
Prince of Nothing Charming and Loaded Gun is set was short and I could
have listened to him all night but I had never been happier to see someone
live.

Boyce Avenue where the main event tonight as it was there
tour, a band that Claire and I listened to after we had bought tickets for tonight’s
gig and very quickly fell in love with their music. There covers of some songs
are way better than the originals. When Alejandro, Daniel and Fabian Manzano
got on stage it was magical the crowd got wilder (if that was even possible
after how they had reacted to Tyler Hilton) and there set was incredible with a
nice mixture of their fantastic covers and there amazing original works.
Alejandro from Boyce Avenue
As the night was ending Claire and I went to the back of the
room to queue for the meet and greet as promised by Tyler Hilton and I am so
glad we did because after being squished for fifteen minutes the people working
at HMV Picture House said that there could only be one more minute of meet and
greet and I understand that they have to be shut by a particular time but I
would have been so disappointed if we didn’t get to meet Tyler fortunately we
did and he is the nicest, because of time we couldn’t get a picture with him
and he was incredibly apologetic but he wanted to sign as many fans items as he
could.
Tyler Hilton signing our stuff
It was an amazing night and Claire had caught a Bouce Avenue Guitar pick, we both got our t-shirts and tickets signed by the one and only Tyler Hilton and went home on a
total high after having such an incredible night. Everything was fantastic, wish I could do it all again.
