A Lifetime Ago // Project 365 // Day 37

I have finally got around to continuing my youtube series Time of the Month 2018,  June got uploaded this morning and its been so weird, my life kinda fell apart in July last year, and in the midst of that and trying to pick myself back up again I stopped being interested in reflecting on what was.

But decided I wanted to finish this project anyway. Even though it truly feels like a lifetime ago.

June was a great month, I ventured off to Prague to see out 22 and welcome in 23, there is so much to do and see there and I'm very glad for my city break there.

I had a professional photography job and celebrated my friends graduation approximately 2354 times.

There was very random nights chucked in and summer felt very much in swing and it was grand.

To top it off we went to see Tyler Hilton and Kate Voegele after having cocktails outside on what was the hottest day in Scotland last year.

City on Fire // Project 365 // Day 18

City On Fire is the latest album release from one of my favourite artists Tyler Hilton released today I have chosen a picture from when I saw him in 2015. I've been lucky enough to see this talented man live 5 (I think) times now. If you ever get the opportunity I honestly would urge you not give up the chance I first saw him live in 2012 and saw one of his shows last year and its been an experience every time.

It's been just over four years since Hilton's last album release, instead choosing to release EP Live in the Garden and Various singles which have all been leading us to here,  a new album Hilton's self proclaimed break from 'artistic jail' and creating the sound he originally set out to make.

Hilton's Lyrics have tis undeniably honest storytelling way about. There's a real raw emotion that pours out of tracks like "I don't wanna be scared" and "When I see you, I see home", there's awe in "the way that she loves", there's relief in "When the night moves",  there's grit behind "City on Fire", frustration in "Overtime" and a whole lot of fun in in "Find me one.

His songs are relateable You can find reflections of real life within them. This album has definitely been worth the wait.

I look forward to the next UK tour. But until that time comes, I'll be over here listening to these great new tunes. And with Tyler Hilton hinting that a new EP won't be long to follow up with the material he left off the album It seems like this is going to be a great year for fans of his music.

#MusicMonday : Tyler Hilton + Kate Voegele - Live in London [Album]

In honour of Tyler Hilton and Kate Voegele venturing on a Europe tour and playing in London last night, Music Monday is there live in London album.

Unfortunately plans to venture down to London to watch the show fell through, so instead I listened to this. Recorded last time they were there on a tour which I managed to see on there Glasgow Date.

There's something about music that is so much better live.  I've seen Tyler Hilton a few times and previously had is live in Atlanta album, and honestly Tyler Hilton was made to perform his voice is just so much better, more raw live.  This was my first time seeing Kate Voegele but she also is incredible live. There a duo not to miss so if there heading to a city near you I would recommend that you make the effort to see them.

Tyler is CD1: it contains music from all of his albums, including fan faves like Missing You and Loaded Gun. And two songs in which he duets with Kate Voegele; Long Ride Home, and Where the Stars go Blue which he originally dusted with Bethany Joy Lenz

Kate is CD2 : Kate's side also features music from all of her albums and brand new EP. As well as Hallelujah which she covered on OTH. Other fan faves included on the CD are Only Fooling Myself and No Good. Tyler Hilton joins her on Caught up in You which is a great track of her wildcard EP.

A great album so go forth and have a listen.

#MusicMonday : "I Won't Back Down" - Tom Petty

Today I was feeling really meh, after not being able to sleep. I just didn't have the energy, bit its all in the mind, cause I showed up to my 9.15am Spin Class.

I then really couldn't decide on a song, but after my shift tonight and the mood I've been in. Plus its Blue Monday I realised I won't back down is perfect for how I feel.

So no, I won't back down! The only way is forward and to keep at everything.

The first time I was ever made aware of this song was watching a Tyler Hilton video so embedded below is his version.

Tyler Hilton + Kate Voegele | Glasgow Garage | Review

Tyler Hilton and Kate Voegele are currently touring the UK and I was lucky enough to see them at there sold out Glasgow show.

Even though One Tree Hill ended in 2012 the fans still show how much music was an integral part of the show. Still following artists that the show had introduced us to. Kate Voegele and Tyler Hilton played on this playing fan favourites from the show and even closing the concert with Where the stars go blue, Kate Voegele taking the female part sang by Bethany Joy Lenz on the show.

After the opening act. Kate Voegele came on stage. With a high energy performance singing songs that fans knew from the show and a some new material from her EP The Wild Card. The audience truly enthralled in the music she was playing. This was Kate's first show in Scotland and with the reaction from the audience it differently shouldn't be her last.

Then Tyler Hilton took the stage, this marks his fourth time in Scotland. And his first tour since the release of fan funded album Indian Summer. Meaning the crowd heard old favourites as well as some material off the brilliant new album. But Tyler has been truly busy starting in new Amazon Prime show Extant with Halle Berry meant he only has a few weeks off at a time to try and tour.

They then took the stage together for two songs. A duet from Kate Voegele's EP. And the much Loved Where the Stars go Blue that Tyler sang on the show with Bethany Joy Lenz it was a huge join in moment for the crowd who sang along to every word.

Tyler and Kate have already got plans to take the tour to Canada, and wish to take it to other countries. A  great experience for any One Tree Hill Fans. Or just check out there music and see what amazing artists they are and go and see them live where they truly shine.

January Favourites

January is by far my least favourite month of the year. Why? well, your hitting the post christmas blues, everyone is skint... and feeling it, all the lights have been taken down,so the world feels a little less magical than it did in December but even more cold. Plus January takes a whole 31 days to get through.

But never the less here are the few goodies that made my month all that more bare able.

1)  Salvation - Wakey Wakey, I have already talked about this album when it first came out, but this month the vinyl finally arrived. It has barely been out of my record player, there is something genuinely lovely about listening to music on vinyl. Its more of an experience.

2) Love Tanya - Tanya Burr, this book is absolutely gorgeous, Tanya Burr is a beauty and fashion blogger/vlogger  as well as inspiration to many teens/young adults. Love Tanya, is full of hints and tips from beauty to life this a lovely read.

3) Indian Summer - Tyler Hilton, I don't think I have talked about this album yet but it was made downloadable a few months back, but the CD has just arrived. I blogged back in 2012 about seeing Tyler live, and have now seen him live three times, he has such a raw, authentic voice. Mixed with guitar and you can't go wrong. The hard copy recently arrived and I love owning physical copies of music. Digital is all well and good but I do like being able to hold something.

4) Natural Glow Shadow and Primer Palette 2 - Barry M - I have a little obsession with darker eye shadows, and own quite a collection. But I never had any nude for some reason, this brilliant little palette is easy to apply and looks wonderful on. Brilliant if your breaking into new territory.

5) Scandaleyes Eye Liner - Maybeline, My thing with eyeliner is that I can never find an easy to apply one, nearly every eyeliner I have bought in the past takes a little bit more time and if your in a rush like I nearly always am, then I often have to go without. The felt pen type style of Scandaleyes is beyond easy to apply, it makes my days a lot simpler and can through it on in the morning with not much worry about smudging or fading as its quite long wearing.

6) Roller Lash - Benefit, I like a lot of others dashed out to get the new issue of Elle so that I could try the new mascara, They're Real has been my best friend and saviour for years now and I daren't use anything else as it gives my lashes the best look i feel. I have on odd occasion dabbled in bad gal' benefit are my number one eye lash (and brow) go-to-brand. The last few days Roller Lash and I have been getting on like a house on fire, though I think I am not fully swayed from my bestie They're real, but I shall defiantly be investing in a full sized tube of this little darling.

I’m gunna be your next tattoo After all the things imma do to you.

We stood impatiently in a queue with half an hour to wait until they opened the doors. Amusing ourselves with the game Claire invented “uh huh!” a game that consists of going uh huh at hot guys that pass you by (yeah we know superficial but who the hell cares) its easily played on the busy streets of Edinburgh where many a hot guy passes by, wouldn’t suggest it in small towns don’t think it would be half as fun.

Tonight the 12th of June 2012 at the HMV Picture House Edinburgh we would be seeing TYLER HILTON! A man whose sexy voice was introduced to me first by the Show One Tree Hill and when I made Claire watch the show last year she quickly became a fan of both show and of Tyler Hilton. So when we found out about his UK tour there was no way that we weren’t getting tickets to see him. So on March 12th we ordered our tickets a whole 92 days before the event took place.

 The stage pre show

As we stood in the hall taking pictures of the stage we were so close to the stage with a perfect view. Alex Goot was the first act on stage, someone I admit I had never heard of before, his set was fantastic and by the sounds of it the audience agreed with me.
Alex Goot during his amazing set

In the small break after Alex Goot came of the stage. We heard a girl behind us turn to her friend and say “When is Chris Keller coming on?” we couldn’t help but laugh and it took everything in me and Claire not to turn around and tell her that Chris Keller was fictional (let’s all let her keep believing that he’s real might break her heart otherwise)

 The Incredible Tyler Hilton

Then Tyler Hilton graced the stage just him and his guitar walked up to the mic and said “Hey guys, my name is Tyler, thanks for coming out here tonight” before he started to sing Kicking my heels. It’s when you see him live that you realise that though his recordings are good they do not do him justice he is simply phenomenal live way better that I could have ever imagined. His set was amazing her played Kicking My Heels, Jenny, Ain’t No Fooling Me, You’ll Ask for Me, Prince of Nothing Charming and Loaded Gun is set was short and I could have listened to him all night but I had never been happier to see someone live.

Tyler Hilton coming on stage and singing Kicking my Heels

Boyce Avenue where the main event tonight as it was there tour, a band that Claire and I listened to after we had bought tickets for tonight’s gig and very quickly fell in love with their music. There covers of some songs are way better than the originals. When Alejandro, Daniel and Fabian Manzano got on stage it was magical the crowd got wilder (if that was even possible after how they had reacted to Tyler Hilton) and there set was incredible with a nice mixture of their fantastic covers and there amazing original works.

 Alejandro from Boyce Avenue

As the night was ending Claire and I went to the back of the room to queue for the meet and greet as promised by Tyler Hilton and I am so glad we did because after being squished for fifteen minutes the people working at HMV Picture House said that there could only be one more minute of meet and greet and I understand that they have to be shut by a particular time but I would have been so disappointed if we didn’t get to meet Tyler fortunately we did and he is the nicest, because of time we couldn’t get a picture with him and he was incredibly apologetic but he wanted to sign as many fans items as he could.

 Tyler Hilton signing our stuff

It was an amazing night and Claire had caught a Bouce Avenue Guitar pick, we both got our t-shirts and tickets signed by the one and only Tyler Hilton and went home on a total high after having such an incredible night. Everything was fantastic, wish I could do it all again.
