#MusicMonday: Heartbeat Song - Kelly Clarkson

Happy Music Monday!

When Kelly Clarkson released the Heartbeat song it was not available in the UK so I had only heard a small snippet until I heard it on the radio and when it played its one of these songs that you instantly know (How I don't know) but after a few seconds I knew the lyrics and was singing along very happily to the chorus.

This was not what I was expecting from Clarkson as it has been widely rumoured that this talented lady was going to transfer over to country (something that I'd happily see) it is a crazy upbeat song that will bring a smile to your face when  you hear it, though I'm still not sure of what I make off the video, I am defiantly loving Kelly's Heartbeat song.

Looking forward to the new album expected in march and all the new sounds this powerhouse has in-store for us!

January Favourites

January is by far my least favourite month of the year. Why? well, your hitting the post christmas blues, everyone is skint... and feeling it, all the lights have been taken down,so the world feels a little less magical than it did in December but even more cold. Plus January takes a whole 31 days to get through.

But never the less here are the few goodies that made my month all that more bare able.

1)  Salvation - Wakey Wakey, I have already talked about this album when it first came out, but this month the vinyl finally arrived. It has barely been out of my record player, there is something genuinely lovely about listening to music on vinyl. Its more of an experience.

2) Love Tanya - Tanya Burr, this book is absolutely gorgeous, Tanya Burr is a beauty and fashion blogger/vlogger  as well as inspiration to many teens/young adults. Love Tanya, is full of hints and tips from beauty to life this a lovely read.

3) Indian Summer - Tyler Hilton, I don't think I have talked about this album yet but it was made downloadable a few months back, but the CD has just arrived. I blogged back in 2012 about seeing Tyler live, and have now seen him live three times, he has such a raw, authentic voice. Mixed with guitar and you can't go wrong. The hard copy recently arrived and I love owning physical copies of music. Digital is all well and good but I do like being able to hold something.

4) Natural Glow Shadow and Primer Palette 2 - Barry M - I have a little obsession with darker eye shadows, and own quite a collection. But I never had any nude for some reason, this brilliant little palette is easy to apply and looks wonderful on. Brilliant if your breaking into new territory.

5) Scandaleyes Eye Liner - Maybeline, My thing with eyeliner is that I can never find an easy to apply one, nearly every eyeliner I have bought in the past takes a little bit more time and if your in a rush like I nearly always am, then I often have to go without. The felt pen type style of Scandaleyes is beyond easy to apply, it makes my days a lot simpler and can through it on in the morning with not much worry about smudging or fading as its quite long wearing.

6) Roller Lash - Benefit, I like a lot of others dashed out to get the new issue of Elle so that I could try the new mascara, They're Real has been my best friend and saviour for years now and I daren't use anything else as it gives my lashes the best look i feel. I have on odd occasion dabbled in bad gal' benefit are my number one eye lash (and brow) go-to-brand. The last few days Roller Lash and I have been getting on like a house on fire, though I think I am not fully swayed from my bestie They're real, but I shall defiantly be investing in a full sized tube of this little darling.

#MusicMonday: Nashville - Keeley Valentino

A late night shuffle on spotify, led to my stumbling upon this little gem, Keeley Valentino's voice melts like butter, easy listening, simplistic and well, down right simply amazing.

There is something so gorgeous about this song that makes me want to never stop playing it. The perfect blend of her voice and the guitar make for great music.

I don't understand Alex from Target

Alex Christopher LaBeouf (Alex Lee) shot to fame after someone too his picture whilst he was working in target, it was put on twitter and suddenly the hashtag #alexfromtarget was trending, this lead to him being a viral superstar overnight.

News channels ran the story and the apparent question on everyones mind was “who is Alex from target?” the better question might have been “why do we care?”. How did a photo go a sixteen year old boy attract so much attention. Many parodies also started showing up on the internet and Alex was even invited on Ellen, his appearance on Ellen resulted in him getting an iPad and even MORE exposure. A clip from his appearance has over 4 million youtube view.

This all seems to be a lot, and all happened very quickly. It has now been announced that he is going on tour and though its a mystery to me what talent he will be showcasing, even he admitted on Ellen that his talent was packing bags… and dancing… badly, so is he going to somewhat combine the two… is that classed as entertainment…. are people really going to pay between $25 and $250 to see him (these are the prices listed, though there will be other viral sensations there).

He’s also announced on his twitter page that he is starting a Youtube channel, so it seems as long as there a teenage girls to fuel the Alex from target fandom, he won’t be going away any time soon…

Does he even work at target anymore?

#MusicMonday: Breath - Michelle Branch

In the early 2000's I started delving into the world of music. I will one day embarrassingly share the first tape I ever bought as a music Monday. But for now another artist and song that shaped my music taste. Michelle Branch starred on a particularly heart wrenching episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer singing Goodbye to You, which is a compeletly other but all together brilliant song. Which aided me buying "Hotel Paper" the 2003 album from Michelle Branch that had that amazing Breath on it. So sit back listen, enjoy and let the music inspire you.

Welcome to the New Year

Here we are day one of three hundred and sixty five, and the cliche new year - new me, still rings true with many people. Each new year holds promise of new opportunities, new memories, new chances yet to be taken, the ability to start a fresh. To let go of all the bad, hold onto the good and move forward.

So when you see the cliche posts that are reiterated each year, people vowing to change, whither the goals be small or large, who are we to sit and scoff that they won’t do it. There decisions in no way impact your life, other than having to see a post about it on some form of social media site. And if bothers you that badly, unfollow, unfriend, you can do it at the click of a button it is that easy.  and anyway this might be the year they do.

And if it is you who has vowed that this year that you will change you, whither that be physically, mentally or emotionally do not be disheartened by the plethora of posts that make fun of the idea of changing simply because its a new year. who cares if you say it every year, this could be your year, and if not theres always next year, or the year after that.

Do not spend your life controlled by what others may think, if you are going to do anything this year, it should be to take control of your own happiness do not have it dictated by anyone else. Take chances, cease the moment, take a million pictures, with and without filter, write about it, dilute it to a 140 characters. Share your world with the world.

We are more connected than we ever were, so use it to your advantage. Do not let the world leave you cynical, share your moments happy or sad. Vent out your frustrations, scream out your excitement. Let this new chapter begin.

Welcome to the New Year, let it be everything you want it to be.

#MusicMonday: Better Days - The Goo Goo Dolls

This is the last music Monday of 2014 which is pretty weird, I promise to get a hell of a lot better at this next year so tag along for the journey.

Better days by the Goo Goo dolls is just the perfect song for this time of year. Each year I am drawn back to it. It's perfect to feel nostalgic to and to help you move forward into the new year.

"so you ask me what I want this year and I try to make this kind and clear just the chance that maybe we'll find better days"
